Abstract

724,361. Road traffic signs. FAIRYLITES, Ltd. June 23, 1953, No. 17402/53. Addition to 677,055. Class 3(2). The warning sign described in the parent Specification is modified in that the sign carrying member 1 is engaged with the box 2 for storage in pencil-box lid fashion. The box 2 is made without a wall at one end and its side walls have internal grooves 5 near their free edges in which are engaged the side edges of the member 1. Portions 6 are pressed in from the bottom of the box and these are frictionally engaged by a flange 7 on the end of the member 1, to support it in an erect operative position. The flange 7 also serves as a closure for the open end of the box in the storage position of the member 1; it is arranged in this position, to project slightly below the box bottom for ease of withdrawing the member 1. To keep the member 1 in the storage position a snap action fastener is provided. This consists of a projection having an aperture 8 at the end of the box and a local projection 9 on the member 1 for engaging the hole 8. The member 1 consists of a plate 3 to which reflectors 4 are attached by means of casings 4a which are first welded to the plate 3 and then have their free edges bent over the reflectors.
