A spring hinge is formed as a one-piece construction from a flexible and resilient material and comprises a pair of plate portions, 10 and 11, which are integrally connected together along a fold line 15 forming the hinge axis 12 so as to be relatively movable between open and closed positions, each of the plate portions being integrally connected at a position remote from the hinge axis to a control element, the two control elements, 13 and 14, thus provided being integrally connected together along a fold line 15 which is parallel to but not coincident with the hinge axis 12 when the plate portions are in at least one of their relative positions, namely an open position and a closed position, said fold line and said hinge axis being also arranged so that they lie in a common plane which is perpendicular to the plate portions when the latter are in the open position, and the two sides of each control element which extend in directions transverse to the hinge axis being separated from the plate portions, one or both of the control elements being of thin enough section or otherwise shaped as to act in the manner of a leafspring when the plate portions are moved between their open and closed positions so that folding or unfolding of the plate portions results in flexing one or both control elements.
