Abstract

1339298 Hinges SUITCASE SHOWER Ltd 12 Oct 1971 [17 Sept 1971] 47334/71 Heading E2F A hinge, as shown, comprises two hinge elements 12, 14 which have a pair of tongues 18 and 20 made from resilient material which cooperate with each other as the hinge is opened and hold the hinge in the open position. The hinge elements pivot about an axis 16 between a side by side closed position and an end to end open position. As the hinge opens the tongue 18, which is in the plane of element 12, engages with tongue 20, which is disposed parallel to but displaced from the plane of element 14. The tongue 20 is deformed by tongue 18 and resists the pivoting movement. As the hinge reaches the open position, a rib 36 on tongue 18 engages with a recess 38 in the tongue 20 to hold the hinge in the open position. Hinge element 14 has an abutment 34 to prevent the hinge from reaching a full 180‹ open position.
