Abstract

681,666. Radio reflectors. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. March 12, 1951 [May 13, 1950], No. 5898/61. Class 40 (vii). A radio reflector comprises a plurality of pyramidal corner reflectors disposed helically about a central axis, the reflector axes being directed outwards in directions substantially perpendicular to the central axis. The reflector, which is shown opened out flat in Fig. 2, comprises plates 10, 11, 12 ... hinged to one another and is normally folded so that successive plates are perpendicular to one another, successive foldings being in opposite directions as shown in Fig. 3. Further plates 20, 21, 22 ... are hinged to plates 11, 13, 15 ... and normally stand perpendicular with respect to these plates, thus dividing the included angle between each pair of plates 10, 11 ... into two corner reflectors. Further plates 20a, 21a ... are also attached to plates 12, 14 .... For storage, the members 20, 21 ... are folded flat upon their respective plates 11, 13 ... and plates 10, 11, 12 ... are folded to lie flat one upon the other. The hinges between successive plates are constructed so as not to open beyond 90 degrees. The plates 20, 21 ... are spring- loaded, stops affixed to the main plates preventing them opening beyond 90 degrees. The reflector is adapted to be supported from a hole 26 when it will open out automatically into its operative position.
