Abstract
702,973. Buffing and draw-gear. HULSON CO. Nov. 14, 1951, No. 26650/51. Class 103(5) A rail vehicle having a centrally disposed draught and buffing column 11 has lateral extensions on the column 11 to support resilient buffers 40 so that the combined capacity of the buffers and the column 11 are effective to absorb buffing shocks. Draught loads are taken by the spring 26 which is held compressed between the abutment 25 secured to the vehicle frame and the follower 29 which engages the stops 32 secured to the column 11. Buffing loads are taken by the stops 33 on the column engaging the follower 28 and compressing the spring 26 against the follower 29 which is held in position by the tie-rod 30 having cotters 31 engaging the abutment 25 and the follower 29. The springs may also be arranged on the side of the abutments adjacent the ends of the vehicle. Specification 326,218, [Class 103(v)], is referred to.
