Abstract
748,248. Rubber compression springs. MINER, Inc., W. H. March 8, 1954, No. 6659/54. Class 108 (3). In shock-absorbing unit for rail vehicle draw gear comprising a rubber pad C bonded to metal plates A, B, and having its peripheral edge faces grooved lengthwise, each groove is bowed inwardly between its ends (as seen in dotted lines in Fig. 1). When the unit is compressed to a predetermined extent, the edge faces of the pad lie flush with the edges of the plates (Fig. 6, not shown). The pads have projections 18 and recesses 17, which engage with corresponding recesses and projections formed in the plates. The latter serve to maintain the alignment of a stack of the units.
