Abstract

702,593. Glass or panel securing means. BRIGHT, T. J. R. Oct. 4, 1950 [Oct. 11, 1949], No. 26129/49. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4) A securing means for holding two glass panes or building panels in position on the flanges of an inverted Tee-section frame member consists of an arcuate-section capping strip which, by means of two depending arms resiliently engages the upstanding flange of the member, the longitudinal edges of the strip bearing resiliently on the glass &c. surfaces. As shown in Fig. 3, two glass panes 6 are held against the flanges 7 of a Tee-bar by a sheet metal capping strip 1 having depending arms 2 with in-turned edges 3 which engage under the edges of spring tags 5. These tags are pressed on to the web of the Tee-bar at intervals along its length and are held by tangs 9 which bite into the metal of the web. In a modification, Fig. 5, the web has a flared edge portion 10 under which the edges 3 engage and the capping strip is covered with rubber 11 which makes sealing contact with the panes 6.
