Abstract

602,539. Bolts; nails. CUCKOW, A. E. E. Oct. 16, 1945, No. 27086. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii)] [Also in Groups X and XV] Asbestos boards &c. are secured to walls or ceilings or to a framework by means of nails having projections A to engage the boards K and a resilient sheet metal cover strip engaging the boards with spring pressure and having inturned edges that snap under the nail heads. Neither the boards nor the cover strips are penetrated by the nails. The nails are driven in along a line to lie between the board edges - with the projections A facing along this line and after placing the boards the nails are turned so that the projections engage over the boards alternately. The space between the boards may be sealed as by bitumen compound at P. Instead of nails hook bolts with captive washers may be employed, the washers holding the boards and the edges of the cover strips engaging the threads. In a further form the washer is retained by an upset portion on the shank of a headless nail, the end of the shank being notched to engage the cover. The cover strips may be finished in a decorative or protective manner.
