646,370. Nailing strips; metal wall studs &c. FERGUSON, W. July 19, 1946, No. 21602. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1945. [Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] [Also in Group I] To facilitate the connection of a sheet of material 15, or other plate, member or article to a metal joist or stud 10 or other structural member, plate or article, the part 10 is provided with spaced depressions 11 having converging sides 13 which terminate in incisions 12 having opposing sharp edges through which securing nails or screws may be driven. The action of the material at the edges of the incisions tends to prevent withdrawal of the nails &c. For heavier material end slits 17, Fig. 4, may be formed in addition to the incisions 20; or circular holes 23, Fig. 7, may be formed at the ends of the incisions. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, states that the structural member may be a fence post. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
