Abstract

587,411. Nails, staples &c. WELSFORD, W. M. July 21, 1944, No. 13973. [Class 89 (ii)] Nails, staples &c. are formed with points 4, 5 separated by a V-groove into which material wedges during driving causing the nail to tear along a narrow web 7 formed between opposed V-grooves 6. The nails are made double-ended and during driving the penetrating points curl apart at 8, 9 and the hammered points curl to enter the wood &c. at 4, 5. In the case of a staple the grooves 14 extend as far as the curved part 16.
