Abstract
702,346. Screw jacks. SMITH'S JACKING SYSTEMS, Ltd. May 20, 1952 [June 1, 1951], No. 13102/51. Class 78 (3) In a screw jack, the upper end of the screw 17 is supported by a ball race 23 at the top of a pair of struts 11, 12, whilst its lower end, which is unsupported, passes through a hole 15a in a plate 15 rigidly secured to the struts. The ball race 23 is located between an abutment member 20 on the screw and a plate 16 which secures together the tops of the struts. A pin 18 passing diametrically through the lower end of the screw prevents the screw from moving upwardly relative to the plates 15, 16. A nut 27 operatively engaged by the screw has pivoted thereto a lifting member 28 which is adapted to engage a socket in the vehicle to be lifted. Specification 625,500 is referred to.
