Abstract

1432041 Lifting cradles G SCHULZZOLLER 27 April 1973 20085/73 Heading B8J A lifting cradle comprises an hydraulic lifting cylinder 1 and at least three foot devices 5 (shown one at the lower end of each leg 2 of a three-legged aircraft lifting cradle). Each foot device 5 includes a positioning foot 9 vertically adjustable by a screw-threaded spindle 10 and an hydraulic lifting and aligning jack 7 associated with an aligning foot 6. A spirit level 11 is disposed in the middle part of the cradle and actuating devices 16, 18 for valves controlling the hydraulic jacks 7, which are connected to a common hydraulic apparatus, are disposed centrally on the cradle adjacent the spirit level 11. In use the cradle may be moved to the required location by retracting the feet 9 and extending the feet 8. At the required location an operator can observe the spirit level 11 while operating the actuating devices 16, 18 from a single position so as to align the lifting cylinder 1 vertically. The positioning feet 9 may then be brought into contact with the ground, as shown.
