Abstract

1,000,800. Suction lifting devices. MASCHINENFABRIK HASENCLEVER A.G. May 1, 1964 [May 21, 1963], No. 18106/64. Heading B8H. An article G, Fig. 1, is released from a suction lifting device, comprising a piston 2 moved in a cylinder 1 by a rod 3, by a manually operated valve 9 which admits air through a conduit 11 and a port 12 to the underside of the piston. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, not shown, the piston is raised by a subsidiary piston at the upper end of the piston-rod which is moved in a cylinder by compressed air. The construction is otherwise as described above. In a third embodiment, Fig. 2, raising a piston rod 3 seals a valve head 13 against a loose piston 2 and moves the piston upwards to produce suction, upward movement of the piston being permitted by an annular rack 14 with grooves 16 which pass a key 15. This rack is rotated by a pawl 18 during the last part of the piston-rod's downward movement which takes place after the loose piston has come to rest. The amount of rotation is such that there is no groove 16 opposite the key 15, therefore, next time the piston-rod is raised no suction is produced and the device is raised bodily away from the load. When the device is set down on top of a further load the rack is rotated to bring the next groove 16 opposite the key so that lifting suction can be developed. A suction gauge calibrated in units of weight may be fitted.
