608,195. Lifting-jacks. PAGE, H. E. Feb. 18, 1946, No. 5028. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1945. [Class 78 (iii)] In a fluid-pressure actuated jack, the ram 10 is locked in any position by a split tapered collar 15 which is forced into engagement with it by rotating a nut 22. The collar 15 is arranged in a tapered recess 12 in the jack body and is provided near the top with a flange 16. This flange takes beneath an inwardly-directed flange 23 on the nut. A diametrically split plate 24 rests on the flange 23 and is secured to the collar by screws 25. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which the tapered collar is moved by fluid-pressure. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
