Abstract

557,642. Jacks. GRIME, E. P. May 20, 1942, No. 6862. [Class 78 (iii)] A fluid-pressure jack is provided on its ram 3 with a square or other sectioned screw thread 14 on which rides a nut 15. After the ram 3 has been brought to its desired holding position by operation of a pump 7, the nut 15 is turned down till it contacts the head 16 of the cylinder 2 and casing. The nut may be knurled for finger operation, and may have recesses 15a to receive a rotating lever, in which case the ram may be moved by said nut and lever when conditions warrant such actuation. The jack may be mounted on a tripod.
