Abstract

538,259. Stud-boxes. CONSOLIDATED PNEUMATIC TOOL CO., Ltd., and SCOTT, G. May 30, 1940, No. 9498. [Class 83 (iii)] A setter for screw studs of the kind wherein the stud is driven into the work by a chuck operated through a clutch and reversible gearing, is provided with a gauge which is adjustable with relation to the chuck in order to limit the downward travel of the chuck and stud so that the drive may be then reversed by the operator to release the chuck from the stud when the latter has been driven in to the correct depth. The gauge may consist of a sleeve a clamped on a calibrated casing of the setter by a bolt and nut through ears d so that it may be adjustable thereon and provided with a flange to engage the end of the chuck when the stud has been driven in to the correct depth. In a modification the gauge consists of a finger h screwed into a collar j on the casing, the setter being driven until the chuck engages the work.
