In a lifting-jack of the kind having a lifting pillar (not shown) supported on three or more legs 1, the base plate 2 on one or more legs can be swung into the position shown to constitute a wheel. The foot is maintained in this position by a releasable spring latch (i which engages a catch 7. As shown, the axle 4 pivots about a pin 10 in one plane only, but, in a modification (not shown) each foot is attached to its leg by a ball and socket joint. Specification 649,102 is referred to.
