Abstract
565,281. Jacks. ROTHERY, J. S. Feb. 23, 1943, No. 2958. [Class 78 (iii)] A lifting jack comprises oppositely disposed legs 6 located co-planar with the axis of the body 1 of the jack and two legs 7, 8 arranged one on each side of the plane containing the legs 6. All the legs are removably pivoted to the body 1 at the points 9 of fins 3, and are coupled thereto at the bottom by removable links 11. Each leg is fitted with a ball-jointed foot 10, which can adapt itself to irregular ground and can fold on the leg when the latter is brought up to the body 1 for storage. The legs 7, 8 are furnished with screw and nut adjustment at 21, 22, and the leg 8 can further be telescoped into itself to permit of folding against the body 1 without removal of the link 11. A pin 20 holds the leg in extended position and a bolt 29 retains it against the body when folded thereto. Other pivot holes 5 are provided in the upper fins 3 to permit of the jack body 1 being supported at a higher level, an extension pillar being provided to take under the body and provide the lower pivot holes 12 necessary for the links 11. The fins 3 for the leg 8 may be made removable. The support is particularly applicable to hydraulic jacks, the release valve of which is shown at 27.
