782,923. Lifting jacks. METALLIFACTURE, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1955 [Dec. 16, 1954], No. 36401/54. Class 78 (3). The load-engaging member 9 of a jack is moved up and down a support rod 5 secured between the apex 6 and base 4 of a trianguler frame. As illustrated the rod 5 is of a V- section complementary to the body of the member 9 and has teeth 7 engaged by a pawl-andratchet mechanism causing the member 9 to travel in a direction determined by the setting of a lever 10. A projection 13 on the jack serves to engage beneath the frame of a vehicle.
