Abstract

Jacks. -The crutch head of a hydraulic jack is mounted on the upper ram by means of a swivelling joint provided with contiguous flanges to limit the angular adjustment of the head. The crutch head 4 is connected to the upper ram 1 bv means of a ball-and-socket joint 3, which allows the head to adjust itself to the inclination of the axle 5 or other load raised by the jack. The crutch head is secured to the ram by a screwed pin 8, Fig. 5, or the like working in a cut-away aperture 13 in the head. The head and top of the ram are formed with flanges 10 adapted to contact in the limiting positions. The ball- and-socket joint may be replaced by a cylindrical, V-shaped or like joint.
