Abstract
701,435. Knife-edge bearings. WIRTH, A. March 7, 1950 [March 8, 1949], No. 5782/50. Class 12(1) A device for supporting weigh bridges permitting swinging in all directions includes a forcetransmitting member 4 arranged between an intermediate socket body 9 and the weigh bridge 1, the member 4 having a rolling action such that the upper end has a convexly curved bearing face 5 which rolls in the horizontal support plane, and the lower end rolls on the intermediate socket body in a different direction from the direction of movement of the latter in relation to a knife-edge 6<SP>1</SP> against which it is pressed. The upper end 'of the socket body 9 comprises a knife-edge 7, and a groove 10 at the lower end thereof provides a seating for the knife-edge 6<SP>1</SP>. Various modified forms of the connections between the various elements are described including a coil spring 39 at the upper end of a force transmitting member 29, Fig. 8.
