Abstract
1,126,485. Weighing apparatus; measuring weight electrically. W. & T. AVERY Ltd. Dec.22, 1965 [Dec.23, 1964], No.52375/64. Headings G1N and G1W. In weighing apparatus comprising a weigh unit 8 arranged below a load support 5, a resilient load transmitting member 7 is arranged to bear on the weigh unit 8 and to be rigid under the influence of normal loads but to be so compressed under the influence of excessive loads as to allow the load support 5 to abut stops 9 projecting from a base-plate 6 of the weighing apparatus and thereby to protect the weigh unit 8 from being overloaded. The load transmitting member 7 may be in the form of a pair of disc springs 10 which are suitably stressed by adjustable bolts 14 on the shanks 13 of which a stressing plate 11 is slidable. The weigh unit 8 which may be electrical or mechanical abuts the stressing plate 11 and may be arranged to engage either the base plate 6 or the load support 5 Fig. 2 (not shown). Several weigh units 8 having associated load transmitting members 7 may be arranged beneath a common load support 5.
