Abstract
959,617. Weighing apparatus. H. FEREDAY & SONS Ltd., and D. H. FEREDAY. April 9, 1963 [April 10, 1962], No. 13885/62. Heading G1W. A weigh beam(Figs. 1, 3), fulcrumed at 2 and suspending a load at pivot 3, has Metric and English scale calibrations and a major weight 5 and at least one minor weight 26. The major weight is slidable on a hexagonal bar 4 rotatably held in bearings on the beam and having two adjacent faces, calibrated in stones and kilogs respectively. The calibrations on the bar correspond with calibration on the beam and are in the form of notches 6 engagable by a locating member 8 attached to the major weight 5. If it is desired to use, for example, English units the bar is rotated until the face with English units thereon is uppermost as shown in Fig. 3. A plunger 23 engagable in a recess in the bar holds it in the desired position. The minor weight 26 is carried on a rail 25 and the pointer thereof co-operates with the fraction scales MF, EF. There may be more than two measuring systems.
