Class 143 In weighing mechanism for a hand scoop, a pair of channel members a, b, attached respectively to the body d and a handle k, are connected by parallel links c and an oblique coil spring h. A pointer i pivoted to member b has a pivoted connection to a link j, the latter being also pivoted to member a, so that when members a, b move relative to one another the pointer i moves in a slot in the indicia-marked domed part g of member b to indicate the scoop load. A screw and nut h<SP>1</SP> allows adjustment of the spring tension, and a clip b<SP>1</SP> allows members a, b to be locked together if required. The mechanism may be contained in an indent of channel section in the back of the scoop, and a wooden wedge e bolted to the back of the indent.
