Weighing apparatus comprising a lever 12 fulcrummed to a frame 14, a spring resistant 15 exerting a turning moment on the lever 12 opposite to that of an applied load, and a load indicating arrangement 18 responsive to the angular displacement of the lever 12 by a load is characterized by a spring 24 arranged in such a way as to compensate for any non-linearity in the relationship between the load applied to the lever 12 and the angular displacement of the lever 12. The spring 24 which is a tension spring, is arranged between the frame 14 of the apparatus and a pivoted lever 18 forming part of the load indicating arrangement. The ends of the spring 24 may be adjustable, Figs.4, 5 (not shown) and the direction of action of the spring may be angularly adjustable in the apparatus, Fig. 6 (not shown).
