Abstract
638,361. Weighing-apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. (Williams, L. S.). Jan. 25, 1947, No. 2363. [Class 143] In a weigh scale employing hydraulic systems for transmitting force from a load receiver to a load counterbalancing mechanism, the hydraulic pressure receiving elements for converting hydraulic pressure into force are adjustably secured to a member, an integral part whereof forms a fulcrum support for the gathering lever upon which said elements are adapted to act. The load bearing platform 1 is supported through swing links 5 on four pressure capsules 8 each having associated therewith a pressure receiving element 15 serving to convert the hydraulic pressure into force which is applied through a strut 18 to a gathering lever 19 connected through a stirrup 21 and a steel yard rod 22 with a counterbalancing beam 24. A single casting 17, Fig. 4, comprises the fulcrum stand 20, the adjustable support for the elements 15 and the rigid support for the beam fulcrum stand 27. The beam 24 has its centre of gravity located above its pivot axis so that the overturning moment caused thereby is sufficient to counterbalance the spring effect of the hydraulic system. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown), the centre of gravity of the gathering lever is raised to counterbalance the spring effect, so that any conventional load counterbalancing mechanism can be employed.
