Abstract

701,354. Liquid and gaseous-fuel furnaces. PEABODY, Ltd. March 31, 1952 [March 30, 1951], No. 8154/52. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XI] A burner, wherein atomized liquid fuel or combustible gas or both are mixed with air which is rotating and flowing to the forward end of a burner throat, is characterized in that the throat diverges to its rear end and has a plurality of channels 38 and longitudinally-extending ribs 39 whereby eddy currents are produced in the mixture as it flows over the side faces of the ribs. The burner tube 10 abuts a forward portion of the burner throat and each channel 38 terminates at its forward end in a shoulder 43. Air enters the burner tube through a register '26 and gas through a ring 14.
