Abstract
863,258. Burners. SOC. D'ETUDE DE VEHICULES S.E.V. Dec. 28, 1959 [Jan. 12, 1959]. No. 43992/59. Class 75(1). The air supply L to a burner fed into a pipe 1 is subdivided into two streams l 1 and l 2 before its entrance to the burner, the main fraction l 1 entering the burner in the same direction as the fuel to form with the fuel a mixture which burns incompletely and is directed towards a deflector 5<SP>1</SP> where the fuel and air are intimately mixed, while the remaining fraction l 2 is fed through a pipe 7 to a pipe 8 provided at its further end with a pluarity of peripherally distributed openings 9 through which the remaining air fraction escapes and enters the flame F to perfect combustion of the mixture. In a further embodiment, the deflector comprises a frustoconical ring 5<SP>1</SP> secured to the upper end of the pipe 8 and a flat plate 5<SP>11</SP> closing substantially the upper end of the pipe. A frustoconical ring 10 fitted over the pipe 8 and secured to the air-ports 9 results in the formation of short flames. A further modification comprises a throttling-member 11 fitted coaxially inside the pipe 8.
