Abstract
701,015. Magnetic bearings. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. July 26, 1951 [July 28, 1950], No. 17780/51. Class 12(1) A magnetic device located in proximity to the top bearing of the rotor of a measuring instrument having needle centering such as an electricity meter, for relieving the load on the bottom bearing of the rotor, comprises a pot magnet 5 having a central elongated pillar 7, and a disc 15, formed of material having a high magnetic permeability, of approximately the same diameter as the pot, these parts being arranged so as to be adjustable relatively to one another on the frame of the apparatus and on the rotor system respectively. The pot magnet 5 is adjustable on the meter frame 1 by means of three set screws 8 screwed through a flange 6 and two tensioning screws screwed in the frame 1. The disc 15 is adjustably mounted by means of a screw 16 on a non-magnetic member 14 which is adjustably mounted by means of a screw-threaded sleeve 19 and set screw 20 on the spindle 2. The bearing needle 3 is arranged on a holder 10 mounted in a non-metallic member 11 which serves for holding together the core 7 and the pot 5, and a spring 12 is interposed between the members 7 and 10. The end of the needle 3 is spaced from a disc 17 disposed at the bottom of a recess 13 in the member 14.
