Abstract

591,163. Microscopes. MASON, N. H. May 7, 1945, No. 10719. [Class 97 (i)] A holder for magnetic specimens or magnetic specimen holders to be observed in a microscope by reflected light comprises a magnetic member 11 rotatable. about the optical axis of the microscope by a knurled disc 22 and holding the specimen by magnetic attraction. The holder is mounted in bearings in a ring 15 on a rack 16 vertically adjustable on the microscope stand 18 and may be raised so that the member 11 extends through an aperture 20 in the stage 17. The member 11 may be a bar magnet or an electromagnet or an unmagnetized bar of iron or steel. Screws 23 permit adjustment of the rotation axis to coincide with the optical axis.
