Abstract

780.682. X-ray apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 14, 1955 [July 14, 1954], No. 20447/55. Class 98(1) [Also in Group XL(a)] In an X-ray shadow microscope, the specimen 35 under examination is supported in a cup-shaped holder 36 seated in a manipulator 37, the X-rays finally impinging on a photographic plate 38. The base 41 of the manipulator, which is secured to the housing 11, 'has a threaded exterior on which a ring 42 is screwed; the ring is turned by means of a knob and ratchet 43. Resting on the upper surface of the ring are a number of pins 44 supporting the plate 45 which carries the specimen holder cup 35. Thus the specimen can be adjusted axially with respect to the target window. Adjusting pins 48, 49 moving in two directions at right-angles also enable the specimen to be moved parallel to the window.
