[Class 97 (i)] A microscope A is carried by an arm D which is rotatable about an axis F, adjustable on a fixed pillar to pass through the object C under test, so as to allow the object, such as a screw - -thread to be observed at various angles. The axis F is supported on a bracket G vertically slidable on a pillar H, and the arm D is rotated about the axis F by rotating a knob K<1> carrying a spindle K which is traversed by a threaded nut L, a clamping screw J being provided.
