700,993. Brake mechanism for cycles. PHILLIPS & CO., Ltd., J. A. Jan. 31, 1952 [Feb. 2, 1951], No. 2591/51. Class 136(1) In a rear rim cycle brake of the kind operated by a pull rod 17 from the front of the machine, an attachment bolt 16 is pivotally mounted through the forward end of a swinging arm or lever 10 and the pull rod 17 passes directly through the attachment bolt. The bell-crank lever 10 is pivoted on a pin 15 in the bifurcated head of a stud 11 secured to the bottom bracket shell 13 of the cycle frame. The pull rod 17 passes through a perforation 19 in the bolt 16 and is clamped by the unflanged side of a rotatable bush 18 when a nut 21 is screwed on to the bolt. The brakes are applied by the operating mechanism 22 ... 28 pivoted to the lever 10.
