Abstract
697,800. Treating yarns. FOISTER, CLAY & WARD, Ltd. April 3, 1951 [Oct. 30, 1950], No. 26416/50. Class 120(iii) As a pretreatment to its manufactureinto fabric or fabricated articles, thrown nylon yarn in the form of hanks, bobbins, cones, or like wound packages, is statically supported-in a deep freeze refrigerator and subjected to a temperature of minus 120‹F for a period which may vary from forty to fifty minutes depending on the denier and amount of the yarn. It is stated that the treatment liberates size if present, renders the yarn pliable and dry so that textile machine parts, such as needles and sinkers, are protected against abrasion and rust, permanently deforms the yarn to a crepelike form, makes the yarn less moistureabsorbent, and enhances the appearance to resemble pure silk.
