[Also in Divisions A5 and D1] A knitted protective article for amputed limbs when orthopaedic apparatus is used is formed of two different yarns one, e.g. woollen yarn, plated on the outside of a jersey fabric and the other, e.g. a synthetic yarn plated on the inside, the finished article being turned inside out after production so that the woollen yarn lies in parallel longitudinal ribs to facilitate wearing.
