Abstract

The setting of a bitumen emulsion containing rubber latex is assisted by adding phthalic anhydride. The anhydride may be used in powder form, mixed with an inert powder such as diatomaceous earth, or in solution in tar acid preferably cresylic acid, napththenic acid, or xylenol. The emulsion may be prepared according to the methods described in Specification 693,683.
