Abstract
692,050. Vacuum casting-machines. VOGT, A. Nov. 2, 1950 [Nov. 3, 1949], No. 26769/50. Class 83 (i). [Also in Group XII] A machine for melting and casting in a vacuum comprising one or more moulds, a crucible, a receptacle for separate charge portions and means for feeding these from the receptacle to the crucible, enclosed in a gas-tight container, is characterized in that the feeding means comprises a tiltable shoot. The crucible 18 may have an embedded H.F. heating coil 17 and be secured to a pivot 16 having an external handle. The double - walled container 10 may be water-cooled and have an observation window 13 above the mould 26 and a hinged flap 14 below which a compartmented rotary receptacle 23 for the charge is arranged. The flap has a hand wheel 27 for rotating the receptacle 23 to bring each compartment in turn over an opening 5 in a fixed bottom 3 and discharge into a shovel 29. This is fixed on a shaft 30 which can be turned by an external handle to deposit its contents slowly into the crucible 18. The shovel may have a hinged flap 32, Fig. 3, to control the rate of discharge.
