Abstract
1,074,555. Casting-machines. WILD BARFIELD Ltd. Jan. 28, 1966 [Jan. 8, 1965], No. 949/65. Heading B3F. [Also in Division F4] A vacuum melting and casting furnace comprises a melting chamber 1 and a pouring chamber 2 separated by a hinged door 7a, and a crucible 3 on a horizontal shaft 4 slidable and rotatable in a gland 5 by handle 6. The door 7a is operated by handle 8 and access door 10 permits insertion of moulds 11. Alternatively, the connecting door 7b is carried by shaft 4. The doors and handles may be interlocked, and in a modification, the crucible is suspended in a trunnion so that rotation of shaft 4 lifts it on a vertical path into the pouring chamber. The crucible may also be carried by an arm on a vertical shaft by which it is swung from one chamber to the other. In these cases a separate tilting mechanism is provided.
