[Also in Division F4] Ice from the crusher 234 of an ice making assembly 220 (see Division F4) is discharged through an outlet 284<SP>1</SP> into a chamber containing rotating scoops 295 which raise the ice to an outlet 285 communicating with a hopper 300<SP>1</SP>. The latter contains a rotating stirrer 296<SP>1</SP>, 297<SP>1</SP> and at its bottom is provided with dispensing means 302<SP>1</SP> comprising a measuring cavity 304 in a movable block 303, a solenoid 3.7 for moving the block and a discharge outlet 306<SP>1</SP>. The dispensing means may alternatively comprise a manually operated flap valve. In a modification (Fig. 9, not shown) the hopper communicates with a chamber containing further scoops 293b which raise the ice to a dispensing spout 306a having a normally closed manually operated flap valve 307a. The motor 292a which drives the shaft on which the scoops and stirrer are mounted may be arranged to operate either continuously while the valve 307a is opened or for a predetermined period of time after each closing of the valve so that when the later is subsequently opened a predetermined quantity of ice is dispensed. Excess ice may be discharged from the hopper to a storage chamber 312a under the control of valve 314a operated by a level switch in the hopper. Further switches may be provided in chamber 312a and spout 306a to shut down the ice-making machine when the hopper, chamber and spout are full.
