Abstract

Outlet of material from a hopper (not shown) is controlled by means of a sector-shaped valve 1 movable from a position from the left (as viewed in Fig. 2) of a housing defined by plates 3, 4 to a position in which it closes an aperture defined by a flange 8. In its aperture closing position the valve 1 is supported by upstanding cylindrical portions 12 each having a brass bearing head 14. Dust associated with the material from the hopper is prevented from entering the space to which the valve is retracted, in its aperture opening position, by a seal composed of brass strips 20, 21 united at respective ends by pieces 22, and 23. The valve 1 is swingable about a pivot bearing 2 by means of an operating lever 16. Brass bearing members are provided at 17, 18 and 28. All the above-mentioned brass parts may be replaced by a synthetic plastic material.
