Abstract
940,860. Moulding fastener end stops. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. July 11, 1962 [July 31, 1961], No. 27677/61. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E2] An end stop or fitting is injection moulded from thermoplastics material on to a compressed portion of a series of deformable elements of an open or closed end slide fastener. A fitting of decreased size results which may be of smaller cross-section than the respective single or interlocked series of uncompressed elements and prevents the interference of moulding material flush with the engagement of elements near to the stop. Continuous spiral thermoplastic elements 1, mounted upon support tape, may be hot pressed or partially melted to a reduced cross-section 5 around which an end stop 2 is moulded within tubular mould 3 and the amount of flush further reduced by partial closing of the end of the mould as at 6 or (Fig. 3, not shown) compressing the elements to form a conical plug.
