Abstract

410,557. Packing flour &c. NAYLOR, W. H., 20, The Drive, Adel, and DAY & SONS, Ltd., J., Beeston Royds Works, both in Leeds. Jan. 5, 1933, No. 411. [Class 94 (i).] In a machine for packeting flour or other soft or granular substance, open-mouthed bags or boxes are successively placed by a tilting box C in detached containers D which are transferred to a rotary filling table E and thence to a rotary closing table G, the filled and closed packets H being ejected from the containers and the latter being returned to a position in which they receive fresh bags or boxes. The filling funnel F is carried by a bracket K which is free to slide vertically on pillars J, J<1> on the rotary part of the table E under the control of a fixed cam rail P in such a way that the funnel first falls to the bottom of the bag and then rises as the charge is built up. The ascending part of the cam rail may be stepped or wavy to give a series of jerks to the funnel. The table E is vibrated to shake down the charge in the packets. Guard rails are provided on the tables E, G to prevent the containers D from being thrown off.
