[Class 83 (i)] [See also Group XI] A melting-furnace comprises a metal hood B adapted to be evacuated or filled with gas and containing an electrically heated crucible C and one or more moulds E. The crucible is tipped to pour its charge into one of the moulds by a cable K connected to a roller J operated through gearing by a hand wheel H. The moulds may be mounted on a rotatable platform so that each may be brought into position for filling from the crucible.
