Abstract
910,413. Charging vacuum furnaces. HERAEUS G.m.b.H., W. C. May 4, 1959 [May 3, 1958], No. 15232/59. Class 51 (2). A charging device for a vacuum furnace comprises a gas-tight chamber 2 disposed over an opening 7 in the furnace wall 1, outer cover 3 and inner valve 5 respectively, superposed main charge containers 9, 9<SP>1</SP> with flap doors 10, and a deflector plate 19. Small quantities of material are added by a scoop 13 rotatably and slidably mounted by a rod 14 in the cover 17 of a side chamber 16. An operating device for the valve 5 is associated with an operating device for the doors 10 and with the rod 14 so that opening of the doors 10 and rotation of the rod 14 is prevented as long as the valve 5 is closed. The chamber 2 has its own valve-controlled connection 20 to a vacuum pump.
