Abstract

691,804. Mounting dynamo-electric machines. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Dec. 3, 1951 [Dec. 11, 1950], No. 30183/50. Class 35. A dynamo-electric machine of the singlebearing type has a disc 7 on the rotor shaft 4 adapted to be fixed alternatively to the stator frame 5 or a flywheel 2. The disc 7 is bolted to a coupling flange 4a to which a stub 11 is fixed which enables the rotor to be centred within the stator by engaging a counterbore 12 in the flywheel 2. The disc 7 is shown bolted to the fly-wheel as it would be when the unit is assembled in running condition, the disc being clear of the stator frame 5. When the dynamoelectric machine is to be removed from the engine, the bolts 10 are withdrawn and bolts are inserted in the holes 9. The shaft 1 may be connected to a prime-mover, e.g. internalcombustion engine, or to a compressor, pump or the like.
