Abstract
691,652. Rolling mills. MOELLER & NEUMANN GES. June 1, 1951 [June 13, 1950], No. 13096/51. Class 83 (iv). Hydraulic cylinders 8 for balancing the weight of the upper roll 3 of a rolling mill are arranged on the outside of the roll bearers 2 and serve as the pivotal axes of bearing blocks 12 between which the roll bearers 2 are vertically displaceable. The roll bearers 2 are vertically adjusted by an electrically-driven screw jack 1 and the weight of the roll 3 is balanced through rams 7 in the cylinders 8 which support a cross-head 6 connected to the bearers 2 by rods 5. The cylinders 8 are supported by lugs 9 and 10 cast on the frame pedestals 4 and are enclosed by integral sleeves 11 on the bearing blocks 12.
