Abstract

622,643. Rolling. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN. Feb. 4,1946, No. 3469. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1945. [Class 83 (iv)] In a rolling-mill, the usual frame is dispensed with and the roll housings are clamped directly together and to the machine bed by means of bolts or other connecting members and at least one of the rolls being radially adjustable within its housing or housings. The necks 3 and 4 of the rolls 1 and 2 are carried in roller bearings 5 and 6 mounted in housings 7 and 8 respectively. The housings 8 are bolted directly to the bed of the machine and the housings 7 are mounted directly on the housings 8 by means of bolts 9 screwed into the housings 8 and passing freely through bores in the housings 7. Interposed spacers 33 and shims 34 allow a rough adjustment of the roll pass. A fine adjustment can be made by means of an eccentric sleeve 13 surrounding the roller bearing 5 and rotatable by means of a projection 16. Axial adjustment of the lower roll 2 may be effected by means of a concentric sleeve 17 screw threaded at 18 so as to engage a nut 20 bolted to the housing 8. The sleeve is rotated through a ring 21 keyed thereto and provided with a projection 24 for engagement by a socketed lever.
