Classes 120(ii) and 142(iv) When a winding machine is stopped, freely rotating bobbins thereon are prevented from overrunning by a rocker member that contacts a disc on the bobbin. A rocker c pivoted at d has a portion c<SP>2</SP> shaped for engagement with a disc b on a bobbin a. When the yarn, which passes over a wire finger e, slackens, the rocker :swings against the bobbin, and when the bobbin has stopped, the rocker tends to swing clear of the bobbin. A disc and rocker may be provided at each end of the bobbin, and grooves may be provided in the peripheries of the discs. The swing- ing of the rocker may close an electric circuit controlling the driving mechanism of the machine.
