Abstract
289,452. New England Spun Silk Corporation, (Assignees of Wyss, J.). April 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Delivery, stopping. - In delivery stopping apparatus for yarn twisting-machines of the kind wherein a pivoted arm provided with a yarn gripper is normally held in the inoperative position by the intact yarn, the gripper comprises a fixed plate 23, Fig. 5, with a bevelled edge 30 and a pivoted plate 29 mounted in an inclined position so that, upon breakage of an end, the arm 19 falls and the yarn behind the rollers is engaged by the gripper and broken by the continued rotation of the rollers, and when the operative pulls the gripped end. the plate 29 turns about its pivot until arrested by a stop 33 whereby the end is freely released without leaving any fine short strands, of material in the gripper. To prevent the action of the apparatus when the machine is stopped and the tension on the yarn is relaxed, the ends are moved beyond the range of the gripper tension on a rod 16 carried by levers 34, the operative and inoperative positions of which are determined by the engagement of a pawl 40 in notches 39, 38 in a disc on the shaft.
