Abstract
641,312. Spinning yarns. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS, Ltd., and FEATHER, E. E. March 18, 1948, No. 8123. [Class 120(ii)] A driving arrangement for the spinning containers 7 of centrifugal machines &c. having an elevatable front carriage (not shown) and driving tapes 8 for the containers, is characterized by an actuator arm 32 arranged in the path of angular movement of the tape tension pulley lever 14 and adapted to be contacted thereby when the tape breaks, the arm 32 being connected to a finger 34 which then operates a switch 35 controlling an electromagnetic circuit 40 in the front carriage release mechanism 46 to permit tbe carriage to rise and unwind the contents of all the containers on to the receiving bobbins, the containers which have lost their tape, through breakage, unwinding of their own momentum. Attached to the lever 14 is a link 27 formed with two notches 25, 26; the notch 26 cooperating with a pin 24 on a stationary member 22 to prevent the tension pulley 12 from falling against the tape guiding pulley 9. while, if it is not required to replace the broken tape immediately, the link 27 may be moved until the notch 25 engages the pin 24 and the remainder of the machine may then be run in normal fashion.
